What is Background Remover?
Background Remover is an online AI tool that cuts the subject out of a photo — a person, a product or a pet — and puts it on a transparent background. Drop in white, your brand colour, any colour or a soft blur of the original for free, then download a transparent PNG or keep editing in the Design Studio.

How to use Background Remover
Full step-by-step guideStep 1: Add your photo
In “Your image”, drop a photo on the upload box, click it to browse, or paste one from your clipboard. JPG, PNG or WebP under 20 MB work, and big photos are resized to 2K for you. Use “Replace” to swap it.
Step 2: Remove the background
Click “Transform it” at the bottom of the settings panel, or press Ctrl+Enter (⌘+Enter on a Mac). The price is shown above the button, next to your balance. The cut-out appears on a chequered pattern, which marks the see-through areas.
Step 3: Drop in a new background for free
Under the result, pick “Transparent”, “White”, “Brand colour”, “Custom” or “Blur original”. “Custom” opens a colour picker, “Brand colour” uses your Brand Vault's main colour, and “Blur original” puts a soft blur of your own photo behind the subject. Switching costs nothing.
Step 4: Edit, share or schedule it
“Edit in Design Studio” opens the picture, with the background you chose, to add text or download it as PNG, JPG or PDF. While the background is transparent, “Copy link” copies the file's address. The library icon opens “Add to Social Library”, so you can schedule it later.

Which photos work best?
JPG, PNG or WebP photos under 20 MB in which the subject stands out clearly from its surroundings give the cleanest edges. Big photos are resized to 2K for you.
Is changing the background charged?
No. The new backgrounds are drawn in your browser, so you can switch between them as often as you like. Only the cut-out itself, “Another take” and “Upscale” use credits.
How do I get a transparent PNG?
Leave the background on “Transparent”, click “Edit in Design Studio”, then download a PNG with “Transparent background” ticked.
Why is “Blur original” greyed out?
It blurs your original photo, so it only works while that photo is in the upload box. After reopening a project from “History”, add the photo again.
How much does Background Remover cost?
Pricing: 2 credits per use. The exact price is shown before anything runs, and new accounts get 10 free credits to try QikTools (valid for 7 days, no card needed). Plans and top-ups are on the pricing page.
Are pictures made with Background Remover labelled as AI?
They don't get a visible label, because they aren't realistic AI depictions of people or events. Every file still carries embedded metadata and signed Content Credentials that anyone can check on the verification page, and anything made from a file that already had our AI label is labelled again.
What happens to my credits if a run fails in Background Remover?
They go back automatically. The one exception: if a request passes our safety checks but the AI provider's own safety system refuses it and charges us for the attempt, the credits for that run are kept (Terms).
Who owns what I make with Background Remover, and what happens to my data?
You own your inputs and, as far as the law and our AI providers' terms allow, what you create, including for commercial use. QikTools doesn't sell your data or train AI models on your content; some AI providers' own terms let them use what they receive (Privacy Policy). Settings → Profile has Download my data and Delete account, which removes your account, projects and uploads.
